Art and Design is currently offered to all students in two afternoon sessions from a range of vocational and recreational options.  Students are encouraged to expore a range of craft and media in 2 or 3 dimensions according to their own tastes and inspirations.

Key Stage 3

Students can continue with their home school projects while in hospital.  Alternatively, they can choose from a selection of guided projects which are accompanied by a workbook.  The pupils complete tasks which include research, design analysis and planning.  They then create an item according to their design and evaluate.

Working in this systematic fashion lends itself well to national accreditation.  Students are then able to submit their work for an ASDAN Short Course Certificate in Expressive Arts.

Our new option for certification is a Bronze or Silver Arts Award, accredited by Trinity College, London.

Additonally, AQA Units Awards are also available to our young people.

We also take part in an annual Art Trail Exhibition and some work is displayed around the hospital/school.

For students studying GCSE or A Level Art, individualised support is provided in liaison with home schools or colleges.
