'I have been especially pleased with the education offered to my daughter. As stated, the programme was individually tailored to my daughters needs, so she engaged well.

The communication between the education department and myself was very good. I was sent photos of my daughter engaging, and a member of staff even attended my daughters EHCP meetings, and offered help in any way with my daughters transition back to school.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help and support, and to wish you all the best in the future.'

'Our son has recently been discharged but spent five months at Poplar Adolescent Unit School. We were so impressed with the care and encouragement that the staff gave him. They were always ready to offer him thoughtful support and also were very supportive of us as parents and spent time outside of school hours having very helpful meetings with us.

We found the curriculum for our son to be varied and stimulating: involving a range of different activities both on and off site. The staff worked very closely with his home school and the communication was excellent.

The staff were all extremely commited and it was a safe, caring and welcoming enviornment for him.'

'I don't think my son would have been able to go through the exam process without taking his exams in the education unit, and that could make a massive difference to his immediate future if (fingers crossed) he manages to get his 5 x 5s for college.

But there is a lot more to be said than that. I don't know if you were aware but my son was dreading the summer in the unit without the education department activities. Throughout his 4 months on the ward, the only things he talked positively about related to the education department. This was somewhere he could concentrate to study, the trips out, the sport, playing chess, even simpy talking to the teachers. I think it gave him a connection to normality in an environment that was otherwise not at all normal for him.

I hope he has thanked you himself but if not, please take it from me that he has really appreciated everything the education department has done for him.'
