Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. School and College staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for children to prevent concerns from escalating. Schools / Colleges and their staff form part of the wider safeguarding system for children. Schools should work with Social Care, the Police, Health Services and other services to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

The Child Protection Policy is written as an integral part of the wider strategy for managing safeguarding and protecting children and young people whilst they are the responsibility of our organisation and its staff. This Policy must therefore be read in conjunction with the Essex  Primary University Trust Policies CLP37 and CLPG37 and ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ - DfE, 2021.

Please see our school policies page for all up to date policies regarding Child Protection.

Additional information

In this technological era, making friends online and communicating with them are normal parts of life.  Unfortunately, there are people out there who may try and exploit their trust.  'Catfishing' is a new child protection concern where fake social media profiles go above and beyond to 'befriend' and often con their victims.
