Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. School and College staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for children to prevent concerns from escalating. Schools / Colleges and their staff form part of the wider safeguarding system for children. Schools should work with Social Care, the Police, Health Services and other services to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
This Child Protection Policy - September 2019 is written as an integral part of the wider strategy for managing safeguarding and protecting children and young people whilst they are the responsibility of our organisation and its staff. This Policy must therefore be read in conjunction with that of the South Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Policies CLP37 and CLPG37 and ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ – DFE, April 2014 which is kept as an appendix to the School’s Child Protection Policy.
