Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is 18+ rated game in which sex, violence, profane language and nudity form the main themes of the game. Popular for its criminal narrative, the GTA series encourages users to break the law in order to succeed and progress through the game. With over 100 million users on the game's online social club alone, Grand Theft Auto is hugely popular amongst young people under the age of 18!  https://nationalonlinesafety.com/resources/platform-guides/grand-theft-auto-online-safety-guide-for-parents/

Twitter

Twitter brings endless positive opportunities such as information sharing, positive conversation, collaboration and a live global view of the world that we live in. Despite the good the platform brings, Trolls, unfortunately, continue to take advantage of this freedom. Trolling can be anything from sending malicious communications online, virtual mobbing, cyberstalking, harassment, coercion and control, and disclosing private sexual images without consent. From 2016, the Crown Prosecution Service were able to exercise new laws that could see those who create “derogatory hashtags” or post “humiliating” photoshopped images jailed.

Kik Messenger

Online safety guide for Kik Messenger; a free messaging app aimed at users aged thirteen and over. Used by more than 300 million people worldwide, Kik lets users exchange messages, photos, videos, GIFs and web pages with friends, family, chatbots and even strangers.

Unlike WhatsApp, Kik doesn’t require a user to sign up with a phone number. Instead, friends can be added via their username, making it easier for users to receive unwanted contact from strangers. Police in the UK issued a safety warning earlier in the year, claiming that Kik has featured in ‘more than 1,100 child sexual abuse cases in the last five years’ and that ‘children are at risk’ on the app.   (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45568276)
