The Poplar Adolescent Unit - Education Management Committee is part of the Essex Children’s Support Service. Essex County Council has responsibility for the educational provision at Poplar Adolescent Unit. However, the Management Committee has an important role to play in monitoring the quality of that provision.
The Management Committee consists of the following people:
The Management Committee has a strategic plan to ensure that the Education Unit evaluates its practice. The Committee also monitors progress and makes sure that Policies are implemented effectively and agreed targets are met or exceeded.
We work closely with the Head of Education, who has direct responsibility for the leadership and management of the provision on a day to day basis. At all Management Committee meetings the Head of Education feeds back to the Committee on all aspects of the service, and ensures that your views are listened to and acted upon.
A Key Teacher will be allocated to each child and will contact the parent(s)/carer(s) on a regular basis to seek views on the quality of provision that the unit is delivering. As an integral part of our role, we also regularly visit the Centre to seek the views of staff and pupils.
We like to welcome opinions, and are keen for new Committee Members to join the panel. If you are interested in becoming a Management Committee Member, we would be very pleased to hear from you. For further advice or information please contact the Head of Education, Val Scott on 01702 538138.
